About this role
Sparta Networking is hiring an Asphalt Distributor / Tack Truck Driver to operate a specialized distributor truck, spraying asphalt emulsions on road surfaces ahead of paving operations. This is a full-time, hands-on role in Columbia, SC that requires a valid CDL and at least 1 year of truck driving experience.
What you will do
- Drive and operate the distributor truck to spray asphalt emulsions on road surfaces
- Connect hoses from storage tank to truck tank and fill the pressure tank
- Regulate the burner to heat the liquid and start the auxiliary pump
- Set spray bars to the required width and adjust height and flow for uniform distribution
- Monitor flow gauges, tachometer, and temperature to ensure an even coat
- Perform daily safety checks on oil, water, and fuel and inspect for leaks or damage before operation
- Handle daily maintenance and notify the supervisor when repairs are needed
- Work varying shifts based on project demands and assist with related crew tasks
What you need
- Valid CDL Class A or B with tanker endorsement and a clean MVR
- Minimum 1 year of CDL truck driving experience
- Proof of age over 18, identity, and right to work in the US
- Able to pass a drug screen
- Able to work outdoors in heat, humidity, dust, and loud conditions with stamina for long or odd hours
Nice to have
- N-tanker and X-hazmat endorsements
- Prior asphalt distributor or paving-crew experience
- Basic labor and hand-tool skills
