About this role
Sparta Networking is seeking an experienced Paver Operator to operate asphalt paving equipment and maintain material flow on road construction projects in Columbia, SC. This hands-on role requires skilled equipment operation in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with a focus on quality and safety compliance.
What you will do
- Operate asphalt pavers to place hot mix asphalt according to project specifications
- Control paving speed, depth, and alignment to ensure consistent, high-quality mat
- Work closely with screed operator and crew to maintain proper material flow
- Monitor equipment performance and make adjustments as needed
- Perform daily equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance
- Communicate effectively with crew members to keep projects on schedule
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with OSHA and safety standards
What you need
- Experience operating asphalt pavers in roadwork or heavy civil construction
- Strong understanding of paving operations and equipment controls
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends
- Physically capable of climbing, lifting up to 60 lbs, and extended periods of equipment operation
