About this role
Sparta Networking seeks a Nuclear Safety & Licensing Engineer to support an advanced energy company developing next-generation nuclear power systems. This role bridges engineering design with regulatory frameworks, ensuring compliance with nuclear safety standards and guiding reactor design through regulatory approval.
What you will do
- Develop and support nuclear safety analysis reports and regulatory documentation
- Assist in preparing licensing applications and technical submissions to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and other regulatory bodies
- Perform safety and risk assessments for reactor systems and supporting infrastructure
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure designs meet safety and compliance requirements
- Support development of safety cases, hazard analyses, and accident scenario modeling
- Participate in design reviews to ensure safety principles are incorporated early in system design
What you need
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nuclear Engineering or related technical discipline
- Experience working with nuclear safety analysis or regulatory compliance
- Knowledge of nuclear safety standards and licensing frameworks
- Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills
Nice to have
- Experience supporting reactor licensing or regulatory submissions
- Familiarity with probabilistic risk assessment (PRA) methodologies
- Background in advanced reactor technologies or small modular reactors
- Experience working with nuclear regulatory agencies
